Luqing Zang

Slippery Rock University

Hello! 您好! ¡Hola!

Thanks for stopping by my virtual space!

I’m Luqing Zang (Lù t͡ʃíŋ Zāŋ) 臧露晴, a graduate of the University of California, Irvine (BA), the University of Southern California (MA), and Michigan State University (PhD). I earned my doctorate in Curriculum, Instruction, and Teacher Education from the College of Education at Michigan State University in May 2025.

Beginning Fall 2025, I will join Slippery Rock University as a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Teacher Education.
I am passionate about education and guided by critical theories such as Critical Race Theory, Culturally Sustaining Pedagogy, Feminism, Post-Structuralism, and Critical Language Pedagogy. These frameworks underpin my research in Multilingual Education, focusing on cultivating Critical Multilingual Awareness in both teachers and students. My goal is to empower all learners in multilingual, multicultural classrooms, regardless of their sociocultural, sociolinguistic, or socioeconomic backgrounds.
I’ve taught for 6 years across various levels: Pre-K Chinese literacy, elementary grades 2-4, AP Chinese in secondary school, and ESOL to undergraduate, master’s, and adult students. I also have 5 years of experience preparing pre-service teachers in TESOL, world languages, and elementary education. My teaching journey has taken me from Los Angeles and Michigan to Beijing, China.
Outside of teaching and research, I enjoy exploring art, culture, and languages—or unwinding with a board game among friends. Looking forward to connecting, and thanks again for visiting!
