Thanks for stopping by my virtual space!
I’m Luqing Zang (Lù t͡ʃíŋ Zāŋ) 臧露晴, a graduate of the University of California, Irvine (BA) and the University of Southern California (MA). I am currently pursuing my PhD at Michigan State University in the Curriculum, Instruction, and Teacher Education program at the College of Education. I am in ABD status and expect to graduate in May 2025.
I am passionate about education and guided by critical theories such as Critical Race Theory, Culturally Sustaining Pedagogy, Feminism, Post-Structuralism, and Critical Language Pedagogy. These frameworks underpin my research in Multilingual Education, focusing on cultivating Critical Multilingual Awareness in both teachers and students. My goal is to empower all learners in multilingual, multicultural classrooms, regardless of their sociocultural, sociolinguistic, or socioeconomic backgrounds.
I’ve taught for 6 years across various levels: Pre-K Chinese literacy, elementary grades 2-4, AP Chinese in secondary school, and ESOL to undergraduate, master’s, and adult students. I also have 5 years of experience teaching pre-service teachers in literacy, TESOL, world languages, and Chinese, through Teacher Residency, Global Cohort, and Urban Educator programs. My teaching journey has taken me from Los Angeles and Michigan to Beijing, China.
Outside of teaching and research, I enjoy exploring art, culture, and languages—or unwinding with a board game among friends. Looking forward to connecting, and thanks again for visiting!
I’m seeking tenure-track positions in:
TESOL, World Language, Bilingual/Multilingual Education, Elementary Education, Literacy Education, Community Engaged Education, Teacher Residency program and Qualitative Research.
Excited to bring my expertise to a dynamic institution!
